First Impressions

You only have one chance to make a first impression, especially when selling your home! In order to make your home shine and stand out to potential buyers you’ll need to roll up your sleeves and put a little elbow grease in to get your property ready for photos and prospective buyers.

Below are some helpful tips to get your home ready to make a great first impression!

1. Create a welcoming environment!

Put out a new doormat (but avoid personalized or “cutesy” ones).

2. Curb appeal

Increase curb appeal by having a freshly cut lawn and making sure bushes/hedges/trees are trimmed. You don’t want your lawn to look like a jungle!

3. Let there be light!

Make sure new bulbs are in all lamps and overhead lights. Pull the curtains aside and pull up the shades to allow natural light in (this also makes a room look bigger!).

4. Create counter space

Put away bulky appliances, dishes, and clutter. Add some flowers and decorative bowls for a polished, finished look.

5. What’s that smell?

If there’s a smell, your house won’t sell! Be sure to clean out trash bins and litter boxes daily. Place cedar chips in closets and lightly scented potpourri in each room so that every space smells fresh!
